Draw shapes
![]()
You can draw basic shapes like a Cube, Sphere, Cylinder etc using the Shape tool. This is useful for prototyping more complex shapes quickly, by drawing a bunch of simple shapes.
Activate the tool
Point at the main menu, and click on the
Shape tool using your main hand's trigger button.
Draw shapes
- Press and hold the main
triggerbutton. - Then move the main hand to draw the shape as you move the cursor.
Change the shape type
You can choose between 6 basic shapes: Cube, Sphere, Cylinder, Cone, Torus, and Monkey (the famous Suzanne from Blender).
To change the shape type:
- Point at the main menu, and click on the
Shapetool using your main hand'striggerbutton. - Point at the submenu for
Shape, and click on the desired shape type.
Shape constraints
By default, Freebird applies a few constraints for the different shapes, to improve their usability. For e.g. a Sphere is pivoted around the center, while a Cylinder tries to maintain a circular cross-section.
But you can bypass these constraints and draw the shape exactly to the dimensions that you want.
To bypass shape constraints:
- Press and hold the alternate
triggerbutton. - Draw a shape with the main
triggerbutton. The shape will follow your hand movements exactly, and not apply any default constraints. - Release the alternate
triggerbutton once the shape is ready.
