Proportional Editing

Proportional Editing

You can enable proportional editing of vertices/edges/faces of a mesh by using the Proportional Editing operation. This allows you to move a region of vertices/edges/faces with a smooth gradient.

This is very useful when creating terrain or editing dense character meshes.

Activate Proportional Editing

Before you activate Proportional Editing, please start editing a mesh object by following the Activate edit mode section at this page.

Then point at the main menu, and click on the Proportional Edit PROPORTIONAL button (at the bottom of the menu) using your main hand's trigger button.

Move using Proportional Editing

You can grab the desired vertices/edges/faces using the main squeeze button, and move them to different locations. The surrounding vertices/edges/faces (that fall in the sphere of influence) will move proportionately, depending on their distance from the cursor.

Please see Move, rotate or resize items for more details on grabbing and moving items.

Resize the sphere of influence

Push the main controller's joystick upwards/downwards to increase/decrease the radius of the sphere. This will control the distance of the cursor's influence (on the surrounding mesh elements).
