Draw basic shapes to flesh out your ideas

You can draw basic shapes like a Cube, Sphere, Cylinder etc using the Shape tool in Freebird. This is useful for prototyping more complex shapes quickly, by drawing a bunch of simple shapes.

Draw shapes

  1. Point at the main menu, and click on the Shape Shape tool using your main hand's trigger button.
  2. Press and hold the main trigger button.
  3. Then move the main hand to draw the shape as you move the cursor.

Undo/redo

If you make a mistake, you can revert that action using the Undo/Redo operation.

  1. Push the joystick on the alternate controller towards Left to Clone Undo.
  2. Push the joystick on the alternate controller towards Right to Clone Redo.

Erase a shape

  1. Point at the main menu, and click on the Erase Erase tool using your main hand's trigger button.
  2. Move the main hand's cursor over an item, and click the main trigger button. This will erase the item under the cursor.

Grab and move a shape

You can grab and move the shapes to any location, in order to compose the idea that you have in mind.

  1. Move the main hand's cursor over an item, and press and hold the main squeeze button (i.e. the button on the side of the controller).
  2. This will grab the item under the cursor. Any existing selections will also be grabbed.
  3. Move your main hand to move the grabbed items along.
  4. Release the main squeeze button to release the grabbed objects.

Resizing items

  1. Grab the desired items using the main squeeze button.
  2. Then press and hold the alternate hand's squeeze button.
  3. Move your hands towards each other to shrink the grabbed items, or move your hands away from each other to expand the grabbed items.

This is similar to how pinch-to-zoom behaves on touch screens for zooming in and out of photos.

Move around the scene

You can move around the scene to view it from different locations and angles, and work at different locations.

  1. Press and hold the squeeze button on only one of the controllers.

    Note: If you're holding the main squeeze button, make sure the main cursor is not intersecting with any item in the scene.

  2. Move the controller to move the scene.

  3. Rotate the controller to change the angle you're viewing.
  4. Release the squeeze button to stop moving.
