Pose armature bones

Pose

You can change the pose of bones in an armature using the Pose mode. This is a very quick and powerful way to create character poses that feel natural.

Activate pose mode

  1. Select an armature object by enabling the Select tool and clicking on the object with the main trigger.
  2. Point at the main menu, and click on the Pose POSE button (at the top of the menu) using your main hand's trigger button.

This will allow you to pose the bones in that armature.

Leave pose mode

Once you've finished editing the armature, you can leave the pose mode by pointing at the main menu, and clicking on the Object OBJECT button (at the top of the menu) using your main hand's trigger button.

Pose bones

  1. Please start editing an armature in pose mode, by following the Activate pose mode section above.
  2. Then follow the steps in Move, rotate or resize items to grab and pose the bones.

Changing the pose of a bone will also move its children (if any).

Pose multiple bones

You can pose multiple bones by pre-selecting them using the Select tool and then grabbing any one of them.

See bones inside a character's body

In POSE mode, Freebird shows the pose bones and your main cursor even when they are underneath a character's mesh (i.e. even when they're hidden by the body from your viewpoint).

This makes it easy to see and grab bones inside a character's body — for e.g. to pose the spine or other bones that are buried inside the mesh — without having to hide the mesh or switch to wireframe display in Blender.
